Dr. Carlene Graham ’06, who earned a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences, presented “Influences of Education, Employment, and Income on Women’s Health” at the first Governor’s Conference on Women’s Health, in Florida. As a result, she was invited by the deputy secretary of health to participate in a statewide plan to address women’s health issues across the lifespan.

 

Gregory M. Gryczan ’05, who earned a B.S. in Business Administration and is enrolled in Walden’s M.B.A. program, was elected to serve as a trustee for the Flatiron Condominium Trust in North Adams, Mass.

 

Blake Gurley ’05, who earned a B.S. in Business Administration, was elected justice of the peace and coroner for Franklin County in Texas.

 

Dr. Jason Dudish-Poulsen ’05, who earned a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences, and three colleagues, presented findings on the successful supervision of mentally ill offenders on probation at the American Probation and Parole Association conference.

 

Lynn Davenport ’04, who earned an M.B.A. with a specialization in Knowledge/Learning Management, was elected to a three-year term as one of 30 national governors for the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters Society. She also co-developed a nationwide educational program for CPCU Society members on identity theft and is a claims team manager with State Farm Insurance.

 

Dr. Janet A. Urbanowicz ’04, who earned a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences, was promoted to chief nursing officer in patient care services at St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson, Md.

 

Dr. Craig C. Kuriger ’03, who earned a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences, published an article, “Workplace Change and Worker Fears,” in the Army Logistician. The article was adapted from his book, Organizational Change: Case Studies in the Real World. Kuriger teaches at BlackHawk College and Matanuska-Susitna College.

 

Dr. Donald McLellan ’98, who earned a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences, represented the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) at a Spanish national police conference in September. McLellan also presented “Physical and Psychological Aspects of Police Involved Shootings” at the IACP annual conference.

 

Dr. Don Grady ’97, who earned a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences, was selected by the U.S. State Department to serve a one-year term as a senior advisor to the Iraqi Minister of the Interior, providing counsel on how to create police forces that can function in a democratic society. During the late 1990s, he worked in the Balkans helping to establish police forces in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Grady is the chief of police at Northern Illinois University.

 

Dr. Alan W. White ’95, who earned a Ph.D. in Administration/Management (now Applied Management and Decision Sciences), was the featured speaker at the International Institute of Justice and Development Conference on Africa. White previously served as the chief of investigations for the United Nations-created Special Court for Sierra Leone, which indicted and arrested Charles Taylor, the former president of Liberia. White was responsible for the investigation that led to the indictment and arrest of Taylor.

 

Dr. Shamir Andrew Ally ’94, who earned a Ph.D. in Administration/Management (now Applied Management and Decision Sciences), became an external examiner for doctoral candidates at George Washington University.
