Inspiration WALDEN GRADUATES RECOGNIZED
Walden honors three graduates for the significant contributions their research and dedication have made to society and to their professions.
Dr. Karine Clay, who earned a Ph.D. in Education, received the Social Change Award for the impact her dissertation—a study of the effectiveness of an education reform initiative—is likely to have on students in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. As a result of her research, Clay is establishing a nonprofit organization to assist decision-makers and education policy in developing countries.
Doug Jarvis, an engineer at Motorola, received the NTU Outstanding Student Award for the effort he put forth to earn his M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the NTU School of Engineering and Applied Science. He completed his program at the age of 64.
Dr. Ivo Janecka, chief executive officer of Harvard Medical International’s Center for Healthcare Planning & Quality in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, received Walden University’s Contribution to the Profession Award for archival research he conducted on a connection between colon cancer risk reduction, melatonin, and physical activity. Janecka, a physician, earned a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences.
