Here are some of the inspiring and heartfelt stories contributed by the Walden community.
“Mrs. Gonson treated our senior English class like a group of adults, even those of us who didn’t deserve such treatment. Her expectations of us were high, which made everyone want to meet them. She also instilled a great love of reading. She was a terrific teacher.” —Jonathan Kaplan, president, Walden University FAVORITE TEACHER: Mrs. Gonson, 12th-grade English
“Mr. Barber went above and beyond by coming to my house every week to tutor me when I had broken my femur and could no longer attend school. Because of him, I didn’t need to repeat the second grade!” —Jennifer G., product manager, Walden M.S. in Education FAVORITE TEACHER: Mr. Barber, 2nd grade
“He taught me not by books, but by example, to be the person I knew I wanted to be.” —Demitra G., veterans affairs officer and Walden graduate FAVORITE TEACHER: Mr. Ronald Wright, high school biology

“Coach Hunt taught me how important it was to have a strong body in addition to a strong mind.
